Shearing the beast On Saturday in Sabucedo, northwestern Spain, a man yells out as he struggles with a wild horse before branding it and cutting its mane in honor of the town's patron saint, San Lorenzo. The horse festival, called Rapa das Bestas (Shearing of the Beasts), is a 400- year-old tradition. This year, some 600 stallions and mares were rounded up from nearby mountains and herded into an outdoor pen for the branding rite, an annual tradition watched by thousands of visitors. On Monday the horses were doused with insect repellent before being freed to return to the mountains.ago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox at Comiskey Park in Chicago.
