MENTOR PROGRAM

Life can be pretty lonesome when one is out of work. It is being said that "looking for employment" takes more energy than to be at work. With no more permanent employment most people will need to go through the process of looking for the next job several times in their careerspan. These episodes will bring uncertainty for many: Am I in the right job ? How can I secure another job? Am I doing the right thing? Often the older one gets the more difficult it becomes to get the next position, thus the longer one is unemployed.

The 3-D Network Company (3-DNETŪ) will try to make these periods of uncertainty a little easier for its members. It offers a program whereby one experienced member helps another in need for support and council, regardless where they reside in the world. The Program is straightforward and entails that the mentor will provide his time/energies to a maximum of three (3) members, at any point in time. Communications between the parties will be direct without involvement of 3-DNETŪ offices and predominantly relies on Chat Software (Skype).

There are no definite time limits in the program but participants need to make a commitment to be enrolled for at least two months. They are also requested to make an one-time donation of USD 199 via PAYPAL to show their commitment and to cover overhead and other expenses in the program. Mentors will be compensated for their efforts by 3-DNETŪ upon the succesful securing of a new position.

Mentors are carefully chosen ( they all have "earned" the right to be a mentor ) but it should be realized by all participants that at no time mentors nor the overall 3-DNETŪ organization can be held responsible. In fact, the program is administered under the auspicien of 3-DNETŪ and as such all its rules, and codes of conduct for 3-DNETŪ members are applicable.

All our mentors possess the following attributes:

High-Level Business Experience
For the relationship to work, the participant and the coach must be peers. To be able to provide appropriate guidance, the coach should have not only worked in the corporate world, but also have held senior line positions.

Interpersonal Competencies
The coach must be adept at handling all sorts of complex, touchy interpersonal dynamics, at sizing up a situation quickly and dealing with a wide range of personalities. Good listening skills are critical.

Integrity
Mentor coaching often involves discussing not only sensitive personal issues, but also high-level, strategic and confidential information. Honesty and the ability not to betray a confidence are essential.

Political Savvy
To be effective, participants must be able to navigate the tricky political waters of their organization. A competent coach needs to be up to helping him or her do that.

Flexibility and Creativity
You never quite know what's going to happen when lots of egos, ambitions and agendas collide. And that calls for the ability to turn on a dime, to come up with new solutions when necessary---or---to be able to discard ideas when they seem ineffective. At the same time, the coach should be comfortable with ambiguity, fast change and lots of uncertainty.

Tough Love
Ultimately, coaching is all about achieving real, bottom-line results. The coach needs to be able to confront tough issues, hold people accountable and demand tangible outcomes.

Organizational Insight
The goal of executive coaching is to strengthen a person's performance as it relates to both individual and corporate objectives.
